Academic Excellence and Military Commendation: Mian Shah Din’s foundational achievements included a Master's in Urdu Literature and a thesis on Allama Iqbal that earned a historic Special Letter of Commendation from University of the Punjab Vice-Chancellor Professor Hameed.
His physical and mental stamina during 1950s military exercises—highlighted by swimming the Chenab River at midnight and completing a grueling 45-mile trek to the Gujranwala Cantonment—earned him a personal cash prize, the status of a temporary Army Captain, and a formal Letter of Commendation from General Ayub Khan.
